Research and Standards

Confidentiality & Privacy

At Family Forge, we take our work to heart. Your family history is uniquely yours, and it’s a privilege for us to help bring it to life and share it with you.

All genealogical research conducted by our team is completely confidential. The findings and details uncovered will never be shared with any third parties without your explicit consent. The information remains solely yours to share as you wish with family members or others.

Any portions of your family history used for advertising, marketing, or published examples will only be used with your permission, and be thoroughly stripped of all personally identifying details before being utilized. Names, dates, locations and other sensitive information will be removed or fictionalized to protect your privacy.

Your Trust is Paramount.

We understand the deeply personal nature of genealogical research. You are entrusting us with your family's story and information. Maintaining confidentiality and your privacy is of the utmost importance to our team. We will never violate that trust.

Pursuing Definitive Truth

While we deeply value and appreciate oral histories and family stories passed down over generations, our primary focus is on pursuing verifiable facts through thorough documentation and research. Lore and legends make for fascinating tales, but our goal is to construct an accurate factual record for your family tree and genealogy.

Respectful Mythbusting

At times, long-standing family claims or oral traditions may be contradicted by documentation and sourced records uncovered through our research process. When this occurs, we handle such situations with the utmost care and respect. We understand these stories have been embraced as truth within your family for decades or centuries.

However, our commitment is to providing you with a definitive, accurate account supported by documentation and evidence. If aspects of family lore cannot be corroborated, we present the facts we've uncovered honestly while continuing to honor the stories' cultural and personal importance to your family history.

Our role is not to judge or diminish long-held family narratives. We aim to build a factual family tree foundation serving as the definitive record of your ancestral lineage. Oral traditions hold cultural and personal value regardless of their veracity. We embrace these stories for their significance while objectively reconstructing your extended family's past through documented sources.
